Freeing N.H.’s Financial Disclosures

In theory, New Hampshire lawmakers’ disclosure forms are meant to help the public better understand what kind of private financial interests these public officials carry into their positions. But there’s little consistency in the information or level of detail lawmakers provide to the public on those forms — and most are filed by hand, on barely legible PDFs.

As part of a broader investigation into the legislature’s lax ethics enforcement, I transcribed the information reported for all 424 state senators and representatives into a searchable database to make it easier for the public to access this important information.
